Borrowing the concept of Korea Artist Prize, a major modern art awards program of Korea, the project chooses website of the year. With the fundamental qualities of the web - openness, sharing, participation and web accessibility - at its core, the event takes off by introducing a manifesto on its selection criteria. The event identifies and nominates websites that meet the qualities mentioned above.
Although anyone can apply on the website (projecthashtag.net/webprize2021), applicants must meet at least one of the criteria stated in the manifesto. Websites are evaluated based on whether they meet the criteria they checked off when applying. Eligible websites are nominated and invited to the award. The award itself is offered in the form of performance; awards are provided online as it is difficult for candidates to attend the event.
